Canada Most Accepting Country for Migrants, U.S. 6th Place: Poll

We know that Canada and the U.S. are very opposite to each other in terms of their policy but both these countries are still highly accepting of migrants.

Canada is the world’s most accepting country for migrants. An analytics and advisory company based in the U.S. conducted the survey which includes 145 countries and about 1000 people from each country are surveyed.

Researchers contacted these people telephonically or conducted face-to-face interviews. The question put up by the researchers from the people is whether is they think that migrants who are living in their countries, becoming their neighbors, marrying into their families is good or bad.

Depending upon this question, an index of answers was created, scoring each country on a scale of 0-9. Countries scoring higher grades show that the population is more accepting of migrants and lower grades show that country or population was less accepting of the migrants.

Canada scored the highest grade which shows that it is the most accepting country of migrants. Canada scored 8.46 out of 9.0 points.
The U.S. ranked 6th with a score of 7.95 out of 9.0 points.

Now, these both countries have increased their ranks in 2017 in which Canada was the 4th most accepting country and the U.S. was the 9th most accepting country of migrants. Till 2017, both these countries have opposite immigration policies. Canada has pushed for more immigration while the U.S. government has reduced it but still, public opinion on migration seems positive in both the countries.
